For home gardeners

Plan a garden your climate, soil, and dinner table will love.

Tell EcoDesign your address and what you want to grow. We'll handle the climate zone, the soil, the companion planting, and the seasonal calendar — then show you what your future garden looks like at maturity. No permaculture diploma required.

For balcony growers, backyard gardeners, food-forest hobbyists, and homesteaders
What you can do

Designed for gardeners, not consultants.

Same AI agents the pros use — wrapped in friendly wizards that ask the right questions. You answer in plain words; we do the science.

Companion planting tool

Type in two plants — get a green-or-red verdict with the reasoning. Synergies pulled from curated flora data, not stitched together from random gardening blogs.

Plant guild builder

5-step wizard with template starting points. Pick a fruit tree, get a guild around it. Visualize at year 1, year 3, mature — in spring or autumn.

Crop Planning

Vegetables, herbs, fruits, trees, vines, legumes, grains, flowers — 8 categories. Score-based suitability tells you what's actually likely to thrive on your land.

Climate-zone awareness

USDA, Köppen, frost dates, growing-season length — all pulled automatically from your address. Stop guessing whether something will overwinter.

Pest photo identification

Same Kindwise-powered pest module the farmers use. Snap a photo, get a triage — beneficials and cultural controls first, chemicals only as a last resort.

AI-rendered visualizations

See your future garden before you dig. Gemini-rendered views at maturity, year 1, year 3 — and seasonal variants — so you know what you're committing to.

Plant guild builder

Polycultures that actually work — for any space.

You don't need a hectare to grow a guild. A 2 m² balcony with the right combination of herbs, edible flowers, and a dwarf fruit can outperform a poorly-chosen 50 m² monoculture. EcoDesign's 5-step wizard plus 10-agent pipeline assembles species combinations from real synergy and conflict data — then visualizes the result.

  • Start with a template (no blank-canvas overwhelm)
  • 600+ flora records with full ecological data
  • 6 visualization presets including spring + autumn views
  • "Add to Project" saves the guild to your library
Crop Planning, simplified

Know what will actually grow on your land.

Score-based suitability across temperature, rainfall, pH, drought tolerance, and drainage. Pick from 8 subcategories that mirror our flora data. If you want a crop we don't have yet, the AI will suggest it — and one click queues it as a community request.

  • Tier scoring: 75+ Excellent, 55–74 Good, 40–54 Suitable, 30–39 Worth trying
  • Reason chips show why each plant scored what it did
  • Companion cards with green-and-red chips for synergies and conflicts
  • PDF export of your full crop plan
FAQ

Gardener questions, plain answers.

Do I need permaculture experience to use it?
Not at all. EcoDesign's gardener features are template-first — you start from a working plan and tweak it. The AI handles soil, climate, and companion planting in the background so you don't need to memorize zones or guild patterns to get a good design.
Does it work for balcony or small urban gardens?
Yes. The flora database includes container-friendly species, the Plant Guild Designer scales to small spaces, and the Crop Planning module covers vegetables, herbs, fruits, vines, and flowers — so you can plan a 2 m² balcony or a 1000 m² backyard.
Is there a free plan for home gardeners?
Yes. Every new account starts with free credits. No credit card required. You can plan a garden, design a guild, and check companion planting without ever paying. Paid plans are for higher-volume or specialist usage.
What if my soil is bad?
EcoDesign's Soil module recommends amendments tailored to your actual N/P/K, salinity, structure, and texture. If you don't have a soil test, we use SoilGrids ISRIC baseline data for your location. Most gardeners can get started without testing.
Can it help with seasonal planning?
Yes. The Crop Planning module produces a season-aware calendar with sowing windows, frost dates, and harvest expectations — all pulled from Open-Meteo and contextualized to your specific crops and climate zone.
